Over 90% of the adult population is connected to and uses the Internet, and so it is not unreasonable to assume the same for Paviors. And yet only about 50% of Paviors have signed up with their e-mail addresses. If you have not signed up, maybe you should consider doing it now.
More and more communications are being sent out by e-mail - it is quicker, cheaper and more efficient and in our case frees up more of the Clerk's precious time. A recent "emergency" e-mail offering places on the HMS Argyll visit resulted in a full contingent within 24 hours, which saved the day since there was not enough time to mail members and wait for postal replies.
In February, all "e-Paviors" were circulated to encourage them to help recruit new members. Within 2 hours we had five new names and as we go to press, more names are coming in. Nearly all Committees now use e-mail for internal communications and in future much of the Company correspondence will be electronic with postal mail being restricted to those not on the e-mail database.
You may actually be reading this on the Web-site, in which case you could sign up by contacting the Webmaster on webmaster@paviors.org.uk. The website is about to undergo a major overhaul and in future your access to the Members Section will probably be by recognition of your e-mail address.
So it is down to you: if you want to take advantage of the increasing facilities open only to "e-Paviors" sign up now.
