It has been an eventful period for the Luncheon Club with a lunch in September, an evening visit to a restaurant in October and our annual lunch at the Guildhall Club.
On 6th September twenty four members of the Club enjoyed an excellent meal at the Baltic Exchange, a new venue arranged by Peter King. The Baltic Exchange is now the home of the City Livery Club and, prior to the lunch, members of the Liverymens' Committee had used the panelled Boardroom for one of their regular meetings.
During the meal the Master updated members on recent developments within the Paviors Company and the Autumn draw for the 200 Club took place, with newly elected Alderman Michael Bear winning the first prize.
The Ristorante Ravello was the venue for the 14th October when eighteen members and guests enjoyed an Italian evening organised by Ron Steward at a restaurant regularly used by and recommended by the Master. As a result we received excellent and attentive service from the restaurant coupled with good Italian food and wine.
The third function during the period was held on 2nd November in the Private Dining Room in the Guildhall Club, Guildhall when 31 members attended an enjoyable lunch in this exclusive setting. The lunch was preceded by both a regular meeting of the Liverymens' Committee and the annual Luncheon Club committee meeting, where a programme of events for 2006 was agreed for inclusion in the Company's calendar for next year.
The final Luncheon Club event for 2005 will be our Christmas Dinner, to be held at Cutlers Hall on 19th December, which is open to both members and guests and is usually a sell-out so book early!"
The Luncheon Club is an ideal way of meeting fellow Liverymen over some eight events in the year, several of which involve guests, wives or partners. For a small subscription it provides a good opportunity to keep abreast of what is happening in the Livery and participating in some lively conversations at a series of interesting and diverse locations.
