A major part of the Company's charitable giving is expended on education, mostly in the form of bursaries, grants and scholarships to support postgraduate students.
Bursaries are awarded students of the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham and the Guildhall School of Music.
The bursary made to the Guildhall School of Music is seen as the Company pulling its weight in terms of maintaining the cultural dimension of the City. The candidates have all been of high calibre, and some have also performed for their “suppers” at Company dinners.
The Paviors Laing Travel Award is made to a post-graduate civil engineering student at Imperial College.
Each year the Company sponsors the Paviors Lecture held at Imperial College to bring a leading personality from the Industry before the undergraduate students.
