Future Company

Skip Navigation LinksHome > About The Company > Future Company

The Paviors' Company is strongly driven by charitable objectives. In this field it is seeking to develop its activites by enlarging the capital base of its Charitable funds. These will be used for both educational and social purposes.

In education, its aim is to develop financial support for, and award excellence to, students on postgraduate study courses related to paved surfaces. It will also encourage children in sixth forms to study Engineering in Higher Education courses by awarding prizes for Physics.

In social charity fields, it is supporting those organisations which are involved in work close to the aims and interests of the Company. It is increasing its commitment to the communities that border the City and encourage members to give part of their own time as well as money to help those that will benefit from their particular expertise.

Both the livery movement in general and the Paviors wish to appeal not only to liverymen who have reached the higher levels in the professions and industry but also to men and women who are starting on their chosen career path. The Company is seeking to achieve this latter aim by offering Company Freedom to candidates of outstanding ability who eventually may enter the Livery.

A major aim of the Company is to retain close links with the paving industry. It will continue to recognise and award oustanding achievements in the design, construction and management of paving projects in the United Kingdom and, by the award of the Paviors Medal, mark oustanding individual contributions to the Industry.

It is encouraging all the members to be active in support of the Lord Mayor, the Sheriffs, and the City in its important ceremonial and commercial role within the United Kingdom.

The Company aims to include and encourage participation of liverymen's partners and families in the charitable and social sides of the Company. It also welcomes applications for apprenticeships for Paviors' children and admission to the Livery through patrimony.

To achieve all these objectives, the Company is encouraging active participation and friendship amongst its liverymen.

A wide programme of events is being advocated, from participating in events like the Lord Mayor's Show or helping to develop the Amberley Museum, to Livery functions and supporting specialised activities, thus enabling members to socialise with each other.
